Chetiyaghara

Chetiyaghara also known as Chetiya, Chaityagriha is a place of veneration, predominantly popularized in Buddhist tradition. It was also associated with tree and Yaksha worship and its references are seen in the Vedic, Jaina and Buddhist literature. In the Buddhist tradition, Chaityagriha is a sacred shrine meant for venerating the Buddha. The present lecture series seeks to discuss the following:

2. Venerating the Buddha: Emergence and Dissemination of Structural Chaityagrihas
3. Venerating the Buddha: Genesis and development of Rock-cut Chaityagrihas
